Challenges are hard, you guys. Ignoring the two that're due next month (one of which I got a great, very long, pretty much everything but the dialogue prompt for that'll be no problem), I have one that I'm intimidated by and have no ideas for, and one I'm not intimidated by in the least but where all my character voices are coming out wrong. They don't sound like my beloved gay lawyers; they sound like any two guys, and that makes me so sad.

This is added to the fact that I am kind of... put out, is a good way to put it, and depressed, and also at the post-semester point where sleeping seems to be like a really big hassle. Highly counter-productive, especially since I'm trying to make an effort to at least leave the house every day and see the sun.

Siiiiiigh.

What about that story where Rodney (AKA "Brains" and actually a CIA agent in deep cover after being recruited as a teenager) is John's pimp ...!

It hurts him every time, every single time he has to send John out. He isn't, much, not lately; the more he keeps John to himself, the more he can charge when he actually does let him go.

He'd like to keep John a little bit closer to himself, if you follow me, and John doesn't seem like he'd mind it one bit. Still, the operation finally wraps up at the end of the year, if everything goes to plan, and Rodney's resisted the urge this entire time. On the other hand, if he were John, he wouldn't stick around with the guy who's been whoring him out, even if he's kept his hands to himself.

He can't decide which would be worse: missing his chance or living with the consequences of taking it.

Ooh, wonderfully angsty. The last line really nails it.

Didn't you do one set in the 60s where John's a rich playboy and Rodney's an interior designer?

"Oh my god," Rodney shouts, panicky, clutching at his hair. "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, what color is it in here- you know what, there's not a name for this color, that's how bad it is, it's like seafoam green and puce mated-" He breaks off, fanning his face with his hands. "Oh my god, I'm going to pass out-"

John is shocked when Rodney really does fall out; he's across the room in an instant to catch him.

Rodney comes to in what must be John's bedroom; the walls are a nice, sedate color- it'll have to go, doesn't match anything Rodney's got planned, but it doesn't make him want to put his eyes out.

John is leaning over him, a concerned look on his face. "You okay there?"

"God," Rodney says, pressing his hands to the side of his head. "This is how you get all those girls, isn't it, you show them that monstrosity in there, and then when they come to they're so grateful to see this nice soothing purple they just throw themselves at you."

John smirks. "Only when I'm trying to seduce interior designers."

"This isn't getting you a discount," he says, dragging John down by his lapel and kissing him.

*dies* I always wondered who was seducing who in this one, because really, Rodney, fainting passing out?

I can just hear his squawks of outrage at his plan being discovered the allegation.

(You have no idea how hard it was to not make references to the Jungle Room at Graceland in this story. Oh, anachronism.)
