1. I have been remiss in not reccing the lovely [personal profile] mific's podfic of my SGA story here is the secret that everyone knows. Go and listen! Leave comments!

2.

We are running [community profile] intoabar/[livejournal.com profile] intoabar again!

If you are unfamiliar with this challenge, you offer to write a specific character, plus up to four other fandoms that you are comfortable with. Then with ~magic~ we will determine a crossover for you to write/art/vid/podfic about! It is that simple.

GO GO GO

You guys my [livejournal.com profile] avengersfest story is up, and it is a humdinger! Please proceed directly to Warm Up (Clint/Coulson, R) for a lovely, lovely story.

Hurrah!

The lovely [personal profile] sophinisba has done a podfic of if you clock me, you got me! Go and have a listen right over here, and leave lots of lovely comments.

Y'all, as authors, this is precisely why you should give blanket permission for podfic/fanart/remixes/w/e. Because then you get presents! people can build on what you've done and make all new awesome things out of it. What could be bad about that?

If you or someone you know might speak Russian and be an SGA fan, then you should check out Четыре откровенные лжи об Атлантиде и одна чистая правда, [archiveofourown.org profile] Bathilda's translation of Four Blatant Lies About Atlantis (And One Thing That's Totally True). This I decree, because I do not speak Russian but know it will be excellent (it even has translator's notes! How can you go wrong with that?).

Hurrah!

I keep forgetting to mention: the inimitable [personal profile] thingswithwings wrote me a story!

you think you're the center of the universe (Explicit, 2512 words) is a lovely Bruce/Tony/Pepper story with lots of ~feelings~ and double penetration. What could be finer? It is very hot and very lovely and you should all go tell her how much you dearly loved it. This I decree.

Recs!

sabinetzin: (marvel - I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR)
Hello! Your friendly neighborhood Sabine here, dropping off some recs for stories- what have been wrote for me! \o\ \o/ /o/

Firstly, we have toys you were fond of., which was written for me by some kind soul for Remix. It's a remix of another man's vine, the first part of Blood Money. Instead of excited and blissfully evil Erik buying innocent, slightly doe-eyed Charles, we have apathetic and mean Charles buying frustrated, slightly repulsed Erik. It's a complete inversion of the original, creepy and crawly where the Blood Money version is about how fun it is to do Very Bad Things. I highly approve.

Now let us take a sharp left: [personal profile] theleaveswant wrote me Everything Nice, a lovely Ariadne/Raven story for [community profile] machosluts. Sweet, sexy, dreamy underage roleplay- what could be finer? Also, any mention of Eames and Raven getting together (in a scheming sense, not a sexy one, though we would take that gladly as well) is A+++ in my book.

Finally, have I talked about Hour Eighteen yet? Because I don't think I have. You see, [personal profile] telesilla wrote My Dignity's Come Undone, a Rodney/deaged!John story which is simply delicious. So I bothered her on some timestamp meme to WRITE MOAR, and she obliged, producing this tastiness. I approve in all ways.

(Oddly enough these last two stories have the same word count. These are things I notice.)

So go and have a read, won't you? And I don't feel like I need to tell you to LEAVE ALL THE COMMENTS, but I will anyway.

1.

There are perks to being an academic, as I have learned. This should probably be a Grad Student Gorilla, which I should probably restart, but everybody needs a little more Success McAvoy in their lives.

2. Uh, if you like things that rock and are awesome, you should read A Decent Boldness by [personal profile] schmerica. Because it has slutty Charles and Raven, which, as you know, are the best Charleses and Ravens. And I believe it will be very clear what, to my mind, the logical extension of this story is, because I am, if you had not noticed, shameless.

3. I'm stuck on another dirtybadwrong story, flist.

And then, like, this big rant about desire and author intent and gender politics came out of nowhere ) I should probably lock this, but... I'm not. Whoops.

IDK. I'm going to bed. I have had another lecture sprung on me (great ironies: my advisor has to translate in a trial for indigenous workers, which means I have to cover a session called Language and Ethnicity), and I am behind on ALL THE THINGS.

So. Have a good night, flist.

1. [livejournal.com profile] bironic, [livejournal.com profile] wily_one24, your cards got here! I appreciate them muchly. <3 <3 <3

1a. I STILL HAVE NOT YET SENT MY CARDS. But hopefully my Secret Pals gift is going out today or tomorrow, and then everything will, y'know, fall into place.

2. There is a thing that is (sort of) for me! [archiveofourown.org profile] admiralandrea wrote If I Could Turn Back Time, which is a John/Woolsey story based on a thing what I wrote, and it is most excellent. D/s times and fine suits, what else does one need?

3. Ladies, gentlemen, and smizmars, the SADDEST STORY EVER IS COMPLETE. My god, it is over 8000 words (I know, I know, but I usually top out at 4000, and I did write this in four days) and every time I thought it couldn't get sadder, IT DID. BUT BY GOD IT HAS A HAPPY ENDING.

FUCKING MUTANTS.

(If anyone would like to beta a really sad story about mutants and doesn't mind (non-graphic) noncon and (canon) character death (not one from the main cast), hit me up, won't you? It really just needs SPAG, and for someone to catch the many, MANY unintentional tense shifts hidden in all the intentional ones. Only the most basic canon knowledge required.)
sabinetzin: (gs - baby miles!)
1. If I could be anyone in the world, I would be T-Pain.

Cee Lo is, of course, a close second.

2. I'm feeling really low energy lately, particularly when it comes to fandom stuff. I'm half a season behind on Doctor Who, a season behind on Community, I haven't started Snuff or finished Ghost Story (and I am unspoiled for all these things but Community, so shhhh), I'm barely writing, and I just don't want to deal with any of it. It seems like work right now, and that's not right. I'm not going to make myself work to have fun.

All I seem to have energy for is non-fiction (non-fiction pleasure reading takes a lot less out of me than fiction, which I understand is somewhat strange) and craft-type projects. I made a nice shawl and drafted a cross stitch pattern, and I've been reading all kinds of books about paganism and kink. I finally, now that I have a driver's license for the state I actually live in, got a public library card, and it is very nice.

3. In that theme, however, I did watch Shut Up Little Man!, which is really something. It's playing up at my beloved local arthouse theatre (which also houses Rifftrax Live. You are jealous.), but it's playing during GMX, so I thought I'd miss it. But! It's on Comcast On Demand, so I merrily cross stitched and watched it from the comfort of my couch.

I strongly recommend it, if you don't mind rather a lot of obscenity and homophobia (from the subjects, not the filmmakers). It's funny and a little disturbing in places, and it raises some really interesting questions about privacy, art, and identity (without giving easy answers to any of them).

4. This just in: a fine piece of Phoenix/Edgeworth epistolary comment porn from [personal profile] valentinite. Absolutely delicious.

Good news, everyone! The lovely and talented [personal profile] helens78 has recorded quietly melt down! Go and give it a listen, for it is lovely, then tell her how lovely it is, won't you??

Thanks to a combination of insomnia and medicine drama, didn't get a lick of work done today. Taking prompts, so I can feel like I actually accomplished something.

SGA (inc. born this way prompts, because tbh I am out of ideas for that series), XMFC, Phoenix Wright, Inception, Venture Bros, Metalocalypse, Harry Potter. You know what I write. No guarantees, as usual.

Also, yes, yes, let me have your XMFC recs. Long and plotty would not go amiss; I'm not fussed about pairings. Stories with a focus on, or at least an inclusion of, Darwin and Angel would be great. I'm working my way through [personal profile] cesare and [personal profile] helens78's Hellfire AU, which is quite good, and I've also read [livejournal.com profile] coffeesuperhero's adorable (but too short, hint hint) kitchen 'verse (here and here); but I really haven't read anything else.

If you write, read, love, mock, or do all of the above to D/s AU, hie thee to [personal profile] blackchaps's journal for the SGA story The Worst Sub Ever, which is such a perfect gem of OTT glee that I cannot even believe it.
sabinetzin: (gs - so gay for lisa basil)
So here are some things I meant to show you and haven't:

- [livejournal.com profile] seashadows wrote me a story! Musical Nerds Are Hot is a lovely little Charles/Pickles story which does exactly what it says on the tin.

- [livejournal.com profile] mific did a comic! Don't Come is a photo comic illustrating part of my story Beholden. It is pretty, wrong, and glorious.

- [livejournal.com profile] susan_voight did some podfics! She recorded my stories Backfire and Break, which are relevant to your interests if you like John and Teyla in corsets.

Hurrah!
sabinetzin: Why don't you take that weak shit to the park, where maybe the squirrels will care (squidbillies - weak shit)
Do you like gay vampires? Do you like stories about Hell? Of course you do. So you should read These Hellish Happenings by Jennifer Rainey. I'm only halfway through, but it's super good so far- it reminds me of I, Lucifer (which is, of course, my favorite novel). And look, the Kindle version is only a dollar! Obvs you need it.

As I said, I am only halfway through. So if it totally crashes and burns and fails like a failing thing, I'll make sure to notify you.

I have been podficced! \o/ [personal profile] constance_b has recorded Results May Vary, which is an NC-17 McKay/Zelenka/Sheppard fic, and one of the earliest SGA stories I ever wrote.

Listen and leave feedback, won't you?
