I will agree with you there--I am a few thousand words into a story started by a prompt from the first kinkmeme, and now I'm ambivalent about even posting it.

But I'm kind of loving that story I'm writing, so damn it, I'm going to post it anyway.

Aw, you really made my afternoon. *hugs* (It's a John-and-Teyla story--the prompt is practically gen, so I'm kind of surprised it was left up. And it's been a joy to write, as writing has felt tough lately [for real-life reasons], so I'm excited about it. I will certainly post it to my LJ/DW.)

We CAN have nice things, it's just that someone always seems to lose their ability to filter things and/or fail to anticipate the reactions of others. And there will always be people who get a thrill from the opportunity to be anonymous and cutting.

It's not like being in a new fandom is going to make wank, wanky people, or inevitable wanktasticness disappear. It's just the squee is strong with new fandoms. Give it time, it'll happen.


I still love SGA and ignore the stuff that sucks for the most part.

Cosigned. SGA is my fifth major fandom and every one of them has provided enormous volumes of bullshit as well as pleasure. SGA has actually had a relatively high joy-to-garbage ratio, at least for me personally.

But I'm glad to see anyone having squeeful fun, so the bloom of Inception fandom has been cool to witness and I hope the honeymoon period lasts a good long while.
