Nope, nope. I consulted with my Future of Fandom, and she opined:

I'm really not sure of the answer, mostly because I can't imagine him pulling the look off. You can get him into the clothes, but he'll just kind of slouch there complaining that the petticoat itches while the bow slides slowly down the side of his head to rest under his chin.

IT'S TRUE. As she says:

I can't imagine him getting *enthusiastic* about it, and you really need to put some heart into it.

But we agree that young!Rodney (the one from Hewlett's goth phase) would *ROCK* it.

And even "now": if, say, Zelenka bet money, or there was a contest or something, he would go and Gothic Lolita everyone else into oblivion. As long as you block out the rant about how, seriously, everyone here is way too old for any style with "Lolita" in the name.

I feel like Rodney-on-a-dare almost doesn't even count. Because if it meant making Zelenka look bad, there is no limit to the things that Rodney would be the QUEEN ALMIGHTY of.

But I do agree that young!Rodney could rock the look. I'm not sure he could pull off the cute aspect, but he does insouciant well, and one sort of makes up for the other.

I love the idea of him dressed like that and I'd love to see if it was a way of expressing something about himself that he normally can't. My first long term boyfriend was into drag and he got a lot subbier when he was dressed up.

Actually, thinking about it, it'd be awesome if he got all toppy and bossy while dressed in all the ruffles and lace.

Huh. I could see John in Goth, sort of emo/punk clothes, but not so much the Lolita part. You mean all-out gothic loli with the frilly skirts and lace and things?

He would rock the makeup though.
