This is apparently legit! I have this image in my head of someone writing it and trying to slip it past their editor, who saw it and was like HOLY SHIT IT'S TOO FUNNY IT HAS TO STAY IN.

It really makes me want to write a story where Rodney is watching John skulking around Atlantis and getting steadily more annoyed, then one day he's just like, "GOD SHEPPARD, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO WALK AROUND LIKE THAT, WE GET IT, YOU HAVE A BIG DICK, CUT IT OUT" and John is like, "........... um." And Rodney's like "...did I just say that out loud?" and John is like, "Fraid so."

Somehow this ends in buttsex.

The word "manly" is a dead giveaway. Who else in SGA uses it? Why, one Rodney McKay. I reckon he's definitely the origin of the phrase. Probably intending to embarrass Sheppard, who secretly liked it even though his ears went pink and he dope slapped McKay in retaliation.
