I have a whole bunch of stuff to put here, but I am exhausted, and I really only came over here to show you why:

Mark it, ladies, gentlemen, and smizmars: the first half of my first costume piece for con season 2012 is finished.

First costume up for this year, after many revisions of the plan, is Rule 63 Thor, replacing the Scarlet Witch re-design. This was going to be kind of a cute thing for pocky_slash and them's group, but then I decided to do Thor and sweettalked shadowen into being my Loki, and the two of us, well, you know how we are. So shit got REAL real fast.

So there's a bunch of stuff I could say about the things that went into the planning of this costume, w/e, but I'm tired and that all can wait for the tutorial. What I really want to show you is the front of Thor's skirt:



If you'll pardon the fact that my bathroom counter is ridic, my mirrors are in odd, odd places, and the piece is actually tucked into my pajamas:



I'm really super proud of it, because it is the first thing that I have made from whole cloth. Like, literally, I started with this:



and some L's with measurements next to them, and now two days later I have this. It's not attached to the back yet, and none of the tailoring work- the waistband, the back darts to accommodate the junk that resides in my trunk- is done or, indeed, fully fleshed out. And the grain is all in different directions and some of it is on the bias and some of it isn't, but FUCK ALL Y'ALL MY COSTUME IS THE BEST.

So. I'm going to go have Avengers feelings now. As you were.
