Question for the podifc types

1. What do you like for streaming other than SoundCloud? I really like SoundCloud, but I'm working on something new that's going to be an hour and a half easy, and I don't have the space for anything that long.

Thoughts?

2. How does amplificathon... work? I read the FAQ, about it being a fest and everything, but people seem to post there, like, all the time. I do not understand.

I feel less dumb asking y'all than PMing the mod, is why I ask.

Amplificathon is both a comm that works all year, where anything podfic related is welcome (meta, links, community promo, reclists, podfic - with the understanding that any podfic posted there will be archived to the Audiofic Archive, unless otherwise specified) AND a yearly, limited-time challenge with rules that are kind of simple but logistically demanding, points-counting and such. <3

re 1, many people use an embeddable flash player like the one Google used to propose (some of us have downloaded it and re-uploaded it to use), pointing it to the file uploaded to their own webspace... I'm having tech trouble with that at the moment but it's working for many! you can see it in action on my podfic site, where it (hopefully still) works. http://www.anatsuno.net/podfic/

This! I post on my gf's site and then use... um. Some code I swiped from somewhere. I also can offer to both host your podfic (happily!) and email you the code. <3

Some people use Tindeck, or paraka will host podfics and a streaming player for you.

(I use a Flash player uploaded to my Dropbox, but that only works for Dropbox accounts created previously, and I only do short streams for fear of overrunning my bandwidth. Except for AO3, which needs things whitelisted, so I use paraka's there.)
